Blood Donation Project

For the remainder of 2016, JCI Manchester is encouraging everyone to give blood and help save lives.  Donate in your own time or with us on 20th September, but let us know at #JCIMinesAPint to win prizes.

Just in case you need some extra reassurance, here’s what some veteran donors say:

"After years of promising I would give blood I finally got around to it in January 2014. It was so much easier and less painful than I feared, and it's genuinely the best customer service I've ever received! Having been a regular donor since, I've received certificates, badges and, best of all, text messages telling me when my blood has been used. So if you have an hour to spare, why not save a life?" Ilona Alcock, International Director

“I started giving blood when I was a student because I saw it as a way of doing something positive for others without having to make a financial contribution. Now, 10 years on, I still give blood and see it as a chance to take time out and relax – plus the tea and biscuits are always a bonus.” Jen Curtis, General Director

If you’re still unsure of what to expect, then further information can be found here: https://www.blood.co.uk/the-donation-process/

If you want to take part, then either:

  • Join us at Norfolk House Donor Centre (near Piccadilly Gardens) on Tuesday 20th September 2016 as JCI Manchester gives blood together. Please sign up online at https://www.blood.co.uk/ and book a session – there are a variety of times available between 11am and 6.30pm. Please also email blood@jcimanchester.org.uk to let us know. We’ll make sure we’re there with plenty of water, biscuits and moral support.
  • If 20 September doesn’t work for you then please email blood@jcimanchester.org.uk to let us know when you have given blood so that we can keep a tally of everyone who has donated.

And don’t forget, whenever you donate, use the hashtag #JCIMinesAPint on Twitter or tell us on Facebook.  Everyone gets entered into the prize draw.

But what if I can’t give blood? We understand that not everyone will be able to give blood and this could be for a variety of reasons. If that’s you, then we would ask that you spread the message to friends and family and encourage them to get involved. Let us know when one of them donates and you can still enter the prize draw.

Any questions?  Please email us at blood@jcimanchester.org.uk and we’ll do our best to help.
