Do you look after your mental health as much as you do your physical health?

We all make sure we squeeze in the gym after a busy day at work, drink several pints of water and eat our 5 a day, but we don’t always take the time to look after our mental health, do we?

How about joining a group of young professionals in a relaxed environment to learn some techniques and practices that you can apply in your everyday life to look after your mind?

If any of the above apply to you, you should absolutely join JCI Manchester for their Mindfulness Supper Club… where you’ll be guided through a series of mindfulness and self-compassion techniques by experts in the practice, which can help you to improve your mental health and cope with anxiety and stress.

Tickets will include a drink on arrival, mindfulness and self-compassion group session, a 2 course meal (from Alston’s fabulous set menu and a short peer counselling session, where we’ll discuss how you’ve found the session and whether you have any copying coping techniques that you find really help you. Who knows, perhaps your tips will really help another member!


5:45pm – Arrival drinks will be served from 5:45, with seats being taken by 5:55pm to start promptly at 6pm.

6pm – 7:30pm -Mindfulness Session – the session will be guided by Annette Boden Msc who is one of the trustees of Anxiety UK and an integrative therapist, who will be introducing mindful self-compassion practice and its therapeutic value, which will consist of:

  • An introduction to compassion focused approaches to well-being and mindful self-compassion;
  • Exploration of its benefits for reducing anxiety and promoting health and well-being;
  • Exploration of experiential practices and strategies which can be used in everyday life to cope with stress and anxiety; and
  • Exploration of some deep relaxation techniques.

One of the techniques Annette will be sharing with us is what is referred to as ‘guided visualisation’ (one of Annette’s own technique that she has had professionally recorded), which is a form of meditation/self-hypnosis which works well for emotional well-being, pain relief, anxiety management and insomnia etc.

At the end of the session Annette will provide handouts to support the session for everyone so that you can put what you’ve learnt from the session in to practice.
